Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport - Support Services

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (H-JAIA) handles nearly 90 million passengers and one million takeoffs and landings each year. In 2002, when the need for extensive renovations to H-JAIA became apparent, the City of Atlanta Department of Aviation sought out A/E support services. Heery formed a joint venture with two local M/WBE firms to create the Hartsfield Support Services Team (HSST).

HSST provided renovation, addition, demolition and upgrading services, as well as architecture, engineering, cost estimating and scheduling services for the Hartsfield-Jackson Development Program under an indefinite delivery contract. All HSST projects within the H-JAIA program have been completed on time and within budget, due largely to innovative scheduling and precise timing of the work.

HSST successfully performed landside and airside services without disruption to ongoing operations. The excellent working relationships among the joint venture firms composing the HSST team were a major factor in their ability to solve any challenges. The varying nature of the projects and their unique requirements led the HSST team to assign the same core team members to each task, thereby establishing continuity and continuous improvement.
