Vail Valley Medical Center Master Plan and Implementation

Vail Valley Medical Center's (VVMC) mission is to provide superior health services with compassion and exceptional outcomes. Redevelopment of the medical center will help Vail Valley to serve its community and guests for future decades.

Heery completed a master plan for the redevelopment project. The plan includes new construction and renovation of over 100,000 square feet of inpatient and outpatient facilities, plus a new four-story underground parking structure, a new central plant, and a rooftop helipad. Reconstruction of the campus proceeded in stages, starting with the new Steadman Clinic and Steadman-Philippon Research Institute.

The Steadman Philippon Institute will incorporate clinical space, with diagnostic imaging, bioskills and research labs, and the Howard Head Sports Medicine Center. Plans included indoor-outdoor treatment space and aquatics, with rehab services integrated for optimizing the physician-to-patient experience. New medical services at VVMC include state-of-the art Emergency, Imaging, and Cardiopulmonary Departments, along with a Cardiac Cath Lab. The ICU/PCU wing of the existing hospital is being renovated to improve patient privacy and acute care services.

Heery is represented VVMC in an extensive Planning Review Process, which includes incorporation of the Master Plan into the Vail Town Master Plan, reconstruction of the I-70 Frontage Road and development of a new roundabout serving area properties.
