Heery-Atlanta team members joined more than 600 participants to raise over $250,000 for local wishes at the 12th Annual Walk for Wishes Atlanta outside of Philips Arena. With an average wish cost of $10,000, this amount will help to grant more than 25 wishes in Georgia. Heery also served as a top sponsor for the event and our team raised more than $10,500.
In addition, twenty wish families supported the event by either attending or helping to raise funds. These families represent the nearly 7,000 children who have received wishes in Georgia since 1995. Four of these children also served as wish ambassadors. These ambassadors mingled with sponsors, spoke during the event program and even led the walk itself.
Nine-year-old Harrison wished for a treehouse. Ten-year-old Joshua wished for a backyard basketball court. Nine-year-old Ellie wished to be a guest judge on the TV show Master Chef Junior. And six-year-old Leah wished to go to Disney World.
The community fundraising event has been happening in Atlanta since 2004. The signature walk takes participants in a two-mile loop around downtown Atlanta. Pre-walk festivities included live music, face painting, sand art, tailgating games and balloon animals.
