Houston Community College’s Coleman Health and Science Tower wins HBJ 2018 Landmark Award

The Houston Business Journal (HBJ) named Houston Community College (HCC) Coleman College Health and Science Tower the winner of the 2018 Landmark Award in the Educational Facility category.

CBRE | Heery’s Houston team managed the new state-of-the-art educational building at the world-renowned Texas Medical Center. Located on 1.5 acres across the street from the existing John B. Coleman building, the expansion project added 241,000 square feet of new classroom and clinical instruction space as well as an auditorium/multipurpose room, student areas, faculty areas, reception, administrative offices, a bookstore, a food court, and a student services center. The project is part of HCC’s $425 million Groundbreaker Bond Program across six of its colleges. The new Health and Science Tower adds to the growing educational opportunities available in the medical field and allows Coleman College to expand its health science training programs throughout the Greater Houston Area with the specialized medical science and technical workforce it needs.

CBRE | Heery managed three of the four finalists in the Education category for HBJ 2018 Landmark Awards. Houston Independent School District’s DeBakey High School for Health Professions and Milby High School were among the 54 finalists representing 16 categories that were recognized for excellence in land planning, design, construction, economics, marketing and management. The awards ceremony was held April 19, 2018 at the Hilton Houston Post Oak by the Galleria.

The annual Landmark Awards honors the city’s top commercial real estate projects of the previous year. Entries are judged on impact to Houston, such as job creation, innovation, best use of land, site plan, development of surrounding neighborhoods, visual plan, amenities and being environmentally friendly.
