The University of Cincinnati's Nippert Stadium Expansion project earned an Honor Award in the American Institute of Architects' South Atlantic Region Design Awards program earlier this week in Savannah. Heery International, in collaboration with Architecture Research Office, designed the project which consisted of an expanded west pavilion and east concourse. The project stretches across 7 levels, and includes a 130,000 SF press and VIP tower, the replacement of all existing game day functions, and enhanced premium seating through the addition of 1,100 club seats, 30 loge boxes, and 21 private suites.
The design preserves the major path between the central campus and nearby student housing. The building's dramatic north cantilever provides framed views into the stadium and its stepped massing at the south terrace allows views to the field.
