Bay Path High School

Bay Path Regional Vocational Technical High School completed a "meat-and-potatoes" renovation project to upgrade the 43-year-old high school with additional classroom and shop space, science labs, a new roof and all-new sprinkler system.

Preconstruction and Owner's Project Management services was provided by Heery for the 198,000 SF renovation and the 50,000 SF addition to the high school. Heery’s services in preconstruction and construction management included schedule, cost, and design management; QA/QC program implementation; claims management; commissioning management; and project closeout.

Coordinating school programming, areas of occupancy and construction activity was a key challenge and success. Heery used Revit to create a fluid phasing model that chronologically designated construction activities and areas of occupancy throughout each phase. The use of the Revit phasing model saved the school a considerable amount of money that would have been spent on modular and/or temporary classrooms. Heery succeeded in maximizing the school's educational integrity by enhancing the new addition with modern learning spaces. The renovation completed with space for 21 vocational programs and 1,110 students.
