The University of Maryland’s Department of Capital Projects is responsible for the design and construction of capital projects for the University of Maryland College Park, seven University System of Maryland institutions and two Regional Education Centers. The Department oversees the Capital Project Program, a comprehensive design and construction program set forth to achieve the University’s goal of being a leading public institution of higher education.
In 2015, the University of Maryland’s Department of Capital Projects contracted Heery International to provide project management services on an “as needed basis” for the department’s capital design and construction management program.
Heery’s staff of approximately 12 project managers, project engineers, and inspectors are located on-site at the University’s College Park campus. They work side-by-side the University’s staff, supporting them on various assignments as needed. Projects include both new construction and major renovations and consist of a variety of facility-types, including residence halls, dining facilities, lecture halls, computer centers, parking lots, gymnasia and libraries. Individual project budgets vary from $500,000 to $200 million.
The contract will run for two years, with the University’s option to renew for three years on a year-to-year basis. Heery’s responsibilities include:
