The upgrades include tailgating suites, sponsor plazas, entry plazas and gates, VIP amenity seating, and food courts and concourses.
Heery is designing new offices, entry hall of fame, an auditorium addition, as well as a complete renovation to the concourse level. As the original infrastructure has reached its life span, the new infrastructure and facilities will be compliant with the current codes and modern stadium standards along with existing box upgrades. The upgrades include tailgating suites, sponsor plazas, entry plazas and gates, VIP amenity seating, and food courts and concourses. With the new implementation of alcohol sales within Milan-Puskar stadium, the facility’s infrastructure needed to be improved in order to support new demands. Heery designed new kiosks and pour points, along with new points of entry, restrooms, and queues for bag checks in order to improve the game day experience and to maximize the additional revenue streams for West Virginia University. The project also improved ADA access with new elevators, ramps, and stairs to get the fans in and out of the stadium in a timely manner.
Along with the addition of two new entrance plazas that triple the points of entry in the currently overloaded north end of the stadium, Heery is also updating the exterior aesthetics of the stadium and the plaza. With the use of a new, branded material palette and a more cohesive façade, the stadium is now more unified and approachable from all sides. Outside the north end zone, the tailgating terraces provide revenue generating opportunities through sponsored plazas that also activate the fans and bring them closer to the stadium before the gates open. Inside the stadium, the elevated food court plazas provide new views to the surrounding campus areas. With the infrastructure improvements, the new design aims to enhance the overall game day experience.
