Heery's Financial Services group spent a portion of their work day at the Atlanta Community Food Bank (ACFB) processing the equivalent of 5,758 meals (6,910lbs of food) to help feed families and children across metro Atlanta and north Georgia counties. The department, based in the firm's Atlanta headquarters, worked as a team in two shifts throughout the day visiting the organization and providing a helping hand.
Heery Project Accounant Philip Bencina explained that his department genuinely enjoys working together, therefore when the time came to choose the department's next team-building activity, the group unanimously decided on spending a few hours at the local community food bank.
“By splitting up in two teams, we sorted through nearly 7,000 pounds of food in just six hours!" said Philip. "It was amazing to know the impact we made, simply by doing what our department does best, working together."
ACFB’s mission is “to fight hunger by engaging, educating and empowering our community,” and each year, with the help from local volunteers, procures over 60 million pounds of food and grocery and distributes that product to more than 600 nonprofit partner agencies with food assistance programs across Georgia.
A strong proponent of giving back to our communities, Heery and its employees are committed to providing a helping hand to help make a difference in the areas in which we live and work.
